Australia’s beauty industry is deregulated. You don’t need a licence to perform nail services — what you need is proper training and the confidence to charge for your work.

Your Certificate of Completion is what you use to arrange public liability insurance, what a salon employer will want to see, and what some councils ask for when you register a home business.

Straight Answer

When you finish, you receive a Certificate of Completion in Nail Technology. That’s a skills certificate. It is not a Certificate III, it’s not a nationally recognised qualification, and we won’t tell you it is.

National Institute of Beauty is a Government Accredited RTO (#46214). We deliver both accredited and non-accredited training. We deliver nails this way on purpose — a Certificate III takes a year or more, and much of that time goes on units you’ll never use behind a nail desk.

Nails is deregulated. You don’t need a qualification to work in it. What you need is the skill, and something that shows you’ve been properly trained — for insurance, for a salon employer, for your council.
